About

The Last Dance

My artwork explores the artist's intuition and vision regarding the interconnections between flora and fauna in the remnants of contemporary wilderness. My childhood memories include times spent playing in the backyard tropical forest.  Imbued with magic, stories, and lively creatures in trees and grasses all around me, the land has been an extension of self. From my boyhood as an islander to my adulthood in the deep South, I have seen how my experience is intrinsically bound to the land.  A severed relationship with the wilderness has jeopardized our oneness with nature.

“Finding the true idea of harmony in nature is by its very essence discordant.” This paradox lies at the heart of my work as the tension, movement, and constant transformation held within each piece give birth to the magic of existence. My process involves a transparent field of deep layering of shapes, light, color, and texture, reflecting how my intuitive vision of nature regards the inherent flow in all evolving elements of the natural world. Each particle reveals a larger whole—art that is constantly shifting and reinterpreting itself. So, I'm ever becoming with the inevitable alterations of the present landscape while embracing my layered identities and the mystical connection between land and my inconspicuous self. Thus, my work becomes a testament to the ever-evolving tapestry of connection and remarkable transformation.

In the layers of the forest, I sense a ‘Natural Mystic’ blowing through the air. I come to the land without occupation, imposition, expectation, or reservation. Here, I am akin to the birds, bees, and even so the worm. I am Nature.
